Tutorial on Social Network Analysis - Dr. Sharique Hasan Title: A Short Course in Social Network Analysis Topics to be covered: Social network analysis is one of the most exciting fields within the social sciences. Social networks have been linked to diverse phenomena including the spread of disease, information, and knowledge; social networks have also been linked to a variety of individual outcomes such as innovation, promotion within organizations, as well as the founding of companies. In this one-day course, we will learn about (1) the core theories in network analysis such as structural holes, closure, and status; (2) what network data is and how it is analyzed. Faculty: Sharique Hasan is Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and the Fletcher Jones Faculty Scholar for 2013-2014. His research focuses on social networks, careers and most recently on entrepreneurship in developing societies. His research has been published or is forthcoming in leading journals including the American Sociological Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, and the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association.
